The MFM is a multi-layered braided stent that modulates blood flow to promote aneurysm sac thrombosis while preserving branch vessel patency. Unlike conventional stent grafts, it eliminates endoleak risk.
TEVAR treats thoracic aortic aneurysms using stent grafts in the descending thoracic aorta. EVAR treats infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms using bifurcated modular endografts.
EVAR stands for EndoVascular Aneurysm Repair — a minimally invasive procedure that seals an aortic aneurysm from the inside using a stent graft delivered through the femoral arteries, avoiding open surgery. When performed in the chest portion of the aorta it is called TEVAR.
EVAR repairs the aneurysm through small groin punctures with a stent graft, giving lower perioperative risk and a hospital stay of days; open repair replaces the aorta through an abdominal incision. Long-term survival converges, but EVAR requires lifelong imaging surveillance for endoleaks.
