NOD Valvulotome
A titanium or alloy sternal plate system providing rigid fixation post-midline sternotomy, enhancing sternal stability and reducing infection or dehiscence risks after cardiac surgery.
The NODⓇ Valvulotome by Invamed is purpose-built to interrupt venous valves during vascular procedures, enabling surgeons to transform a segment of vein into a unidirectional conduit for blood flow. Whether in in situ peripheral bypasses, non-reversed translocation bypass, or arterio-venous fistula (AVF) creation, the NODⓇ Valvulotome reliably and safely disables venous valves, mitigating the need for repeated instrumentation or manual valvulotomy techniques.
Precise Valve Disruption
Features a sharp, contoured blade assembly designed to reliably cut venous valve leaflets without excessively traumatizing the vessel wall, promoting consistent conduit patency.
Smooth, Low-Profile Design
The slender shaft and streamlined tip foster easy insertion and minimal friction while traversing veins of various diameters. This approach reduces inadvertent damage to intima or surrounding tissues.
Enhanced Maneuverability
Incorporates an ergonomic handle that provides excellent tactile feedback, supporting deliberate, controlled cuts. Surgeons can easily reposition the device to treat multiple valve sites.
Broad Clinical Utility
Ideal for in situ or non-reversed vein bypass in lower limbs, as well as the creation of arterio-venous fistulas for dialysis access, enabling a more efficient, single-instrument approach.
Simple Deployment & Retrieval
Once the necessary valves are disrupted, the device can be smoothly withdrawn, reducing the risk of intimal tears and vessel spasm.
Contraindications
- Vessels too small or severely diseased to accommodate the valvulotome
- Active infection in the surgical field
- Patient conditions precluding bypass or AV fistula creation
